“A director worth watching.”
— STEPHEN FARBER, The Hollywood Reporter
“Arkansas’ most compelling filmmaker.”
— SETH BARLOW, Arkansas Times
A native of New Orleans, Mark Thiedeman is a queer filmmaker currently working in Little Rock, Arkansas. His first feature, LAST SUMMER, was hailed as "a masterpiece" by Filmmaker Magazine and was released domestically and internationally on all major platforms after receiving enthusiastic reviews from The Hollywood Reporter, Film Comment, indieWIRE, and others, and playing at festivals around the world, including NewFest (NYC), OutFest (LA), and BFI Flare (London). He studied at New York University and currently teaches in the Film program at the University of Central Arkansas. His most recent film, the episodic documentary KEVIN, was showcased as part of the Southern Documentary Fund's Fresh Docs series, highlighting works-in-progress by new filmmakers, and — in the spirit of its subject — it will have a free DIY release in 2024.
